Daniel Scheidgen is a Master of Longing. He plays with the categorisation of image, perception and knowledge. Daniel Scheidgen’s photographs do not show everything. This blurs the boundaries between interpretation and statement.
Daniel Scheidgen is a seeker. It is all already there. There are countless images of it. Only the focus is different – according to moment and perception. The special differs from the normal only in the way in which the perceiver captures it and assigns meaning to it. Daniel Scheidgen deliberately hides areas of the motif, thereby directing the viewer’s gaze.
Daniel Scheidgen’s motives may be well known. But perhaps his way of communicating reveals something else: THE UNSEEN KNOWN.
